You still haven't proved at all why Pokémon needs to be open-world. It seems like you might have no real argument for it to be open-world other than the fact that you think it's retarded for it not to be.
Linearity is a good thing for Pokémon considering the goal is to beat all eight gyms and the Elite Four, also to collect as many Pokémon as possible. In order to streamline the process GameFreak made it linear. It makes more sense considering how many Pokémon there are and how long that alone would take.
Tell me, if they improve the story would you stop complaining? Or would it still be bad that it's not on a console even though they did improve the formula regardless.
