I think it terms of battles it should stay the same, obviously better visuals.
In terms of starting battles: you have 3 type of Pokémon. 'Hostile', these attack you. 'Friendly', these don't attack you but you can attack them to start a battle to try and catch them. 'Scared', these Pokémon run away from you to try and avoid battle.
