Your problems are in the wrong place. It's not the Handheld, it's GameFreak. The series has no need to be 1080p, 60 FPS, or open-world. However, the series does need to change - something that GameFreak is adamant on doing slowly. But, maybe because it works. That's not to say, however, that it doesn't need to evolve with time - it does, but it doesn't need to be like Xenoblade Chronicles/X. Why would it? No, it is the handhelds AND Gamefreak, my problems are NOT in the wrong place, and the series DOES need a vast open world. The series already is an open world, just like ALttP and the Final Fantasy NES games were, but it isn't being put to it's full potencial because it is on limited handheld hardware.
Different games with different mechanics? Who the hell ever said it had to play like Xenoblade? I said it needs to have the same scale as Xenoblade, because it does.
