Yeah, that was true in the late 90s. It's 2014. We have the internet now. There are no "limitations" in interacting with other people. Over 1 billion Pokemon have been traded since launch over the internet. Over 1 billion. The idea that anything close to the majority of people play Pokemon to have "human interation" is antiquated.

Pokemon is an online game, not a social game. Like I said, if they want to keep the social aspect, not only could they keep making hanheld Pokemon games, just like they still make 2D Mario, top-down Zelda, and old school Final Fantasy, but they could just make a Pokemon Stadium-like Pokemon game/app for the 3DS where you could upload your Pokemon and trade/battle/interact with real people on the go.
