It's easy to tell when Nintendo is actually going to do well in a certain generation. If the internet adores their new console and Nintendo mentions, "catering to the "core"", then you know it'll flop. On the other hand, when Nintendo's new console is rejected by the vocal internet minority and Nintendo finds some blue oceans, then you know it has a large chance for success.
