IndieBox gambles on a resurgence of interest in boxed videogames
I like videogames that come in boxes. I liked shopping for them, too, running to the nearest EB Games store and riffling through the preowned section (when it had a preowned section for PC) to see what bits of overlooked gaming goodness I could dig up. The thrill of the hunt more than made up for the relative lack of convenience, and that's a feeling the IndieBox team is hoping to take advantage of with its new and very unusual boxed-game subscription service.
Valve launches Steam "Buy Orders," making it easier than ever to blow your money

The great minds at Valve have figured out another way to save you money on Steam while sucking more of it out of your pocket than ever before: "Buy Orders," a standing order to buy "commodity items" at or below a particular price.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown now available on Linux and SteamOS

The word went out in late May that the hit strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown was in the process of being ported to Linux by Feral Interactive, as were its DLC and expansion packs. Today that port went live, just in time for a pretty sweet Steam Summer Sale price.

Wouldn’t it be great to do something with such terrifying, trance-like fury that your performance creates a new word in a language you don’t even speak? Berserkers were Norse warriors that did exactly that. That means you might want to try them out in War of the Vikings, the melee combat multiplayer game. There’s a video of the freely available new class below, and I am going to embed that YouTube trailer with such uncontrollable rage that my name will echo throughout history.
