Retail clerks are going to be asked whats the difference, when they can't say price, they are going to say the PS4s resolutions are higher, consumers will be like (higher for same price) = better, its that simple.

You're out of touch with the average consumer. They will not discuss resolution and frame rates, they will discuss games and price.

Safe bet the average clerk is not reading Digital Foundry articles. Those are for forum dwellers like us.

This is the winner post!!!  As a frat boy and average gamer that lurks here, sure I'm aware of FPS and resolutions, but I sure don't give two craps about that. As long as I buy games that are fun and looks good on my TV that's all that matters. Plus, don't you have to own the best TV for gaming to take advantage of things like that?!? I'm sure the average customer bought the cheapest best HDTV and not the one that will play be best for their console.

When two pieces of plastic cost the same, do the same thing, and more or less look the exact same. What are you going to choose based on? Brand Allegiance? Obviously, that has no place when we are talking about the average consumer.

They are going to buy it based on games and not whether one has slightly better looking multiplats. If he see the Halo collection for the Xbox One and likes Halo hes gonna buy the Xbox One. Only forum dwellers care about whether the PS4 has better looking hair in a video game.

Wii was the weakest console yet sold the most

PS2 was the weakest console yet sold the most

DS was the weakest yet sold the most

3DS was the weakest yet sold the most

Games not graphics. People play games.
