Mine in no particular ranking;
1. Mario (he has to be in there)
2. Link (Excellent sword fighter combined with skills in archery, horse riding, etc)
3. Yoshi (Great personality and one of Marios best friends)
4. Diddy Kong (i prefer him to Donkey as he is so much more agile and nifty)
5. Ike from Fire Emblem path of radiance (great leader and top sword fighter who only gets better in time)
6. Dixie Kong (Diddys girl, need i say more)
7. Samus Aran (Lara Croft who?)
8. Kirby (love his powers)
