Like I said inthe op, its common to see mid-high tier games at the top of the best sellers (hourly), due to huge pre orders in the beginning. Thats why i look at the yearly best sellers to see what doing good/etc.
Japan is much easier to tell than US as US amazon has games pre ordered there for a long time. Ex: MK8 is #1there for 2014 best sellers but watchdogs ps4 (currently 7th) had huge pre orders in 2013! Japan they open pre orders 2months-4months before release date (exception of a few of course)
