mehh... I think it's pretty obvious that games played by guys like pewdiepie sell only that good because these guys play them. Nobody would care about some games without guys like him.
Especially indie horror games are in my opinion only so successful right now because let's player invest their time to promote these games.
That's how I see it. Let's players invest many hours in a game (playing, cutting, uploading and so on) and it's free advertisement for the developer and even if the game is shit, it sells good if some let's players play it.
Games like Outlast and Amnesia or even bigger games like Dark Souls and TLoU got a lot of free advertisement on Youtube.
