Those numbers for Super Metroid are accurate from what I know. I recall seeing old sales data on NeoGaf showing Super Metroid with very soft sales numbers in it's first few months in America. It's kind of crazy that a game that has many times been called the best ever ended up with mediocre sales worldwide. That probably has a good deal to do with the large gap between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime/Fusion. It also could be (partially)why Metroid's sales in Japan have been so poor since the series returned.
