There's this article that caught my attention: http://www.licensemag.com/license-global/sonic-new-generation-sonic-boom

It's more or less confirmed now that Sonic will split into two directions. There's the modern (Japanese) Sonic that'll focus on older fans and there's the new Sonic Boom (American) Sonic where the focus is on newer fans and a younger audience.

What specifically catches my eye is the fact that they don't seem to want the Modern Sonic to try to reinnovate Sonic all the time anymore because that Sonic will focus on older fans. Changing how Sonic plays too much has been the case before, for example Sonic Colours VS Sonic Lost World. What I'm expecting here is for Modern Sonic to adapt one gameplay style and not back off from it as much as he did before (As a Sonic fan I PRAY for a Generations like gameplay style), because those risks of changing the gameplay of Sonic games so much each game may go to the Sonic Boom Sonic now. That's just my way of viewing it. If this is sort of how things are going to work out then I still don't know if this will be a success until we've seen some new games for Modern Sonic from Sonic Team. Sonic Boom is probably going to turn out to be more than a spin-off though!

What do you think about this new direction for the Sonic franchise? (Please don't reply if the only thing you've got to say is that Sonic is dead..)
