Um, just , because teh 305/ps3 is 4-5 times more powerful doesn't mean that the power is being used to the full capacity. Also if the theoretical polygon count is 6 times on average better than the ingame one why not 300. That isn't too far. Most xbox 360 games that have trouble running at 720p are games that were poorly developed, meaning the code isn't too efficient. Also if the wii could output 720p they would still have to downgrade, but not as much as in 480p. Also what is going to happen when the ps2 dies? Where are they going to port from? ALso fazz even said that the wii could do some 1st gen 360 games with no compromise. The reason why the wii is underestimated is how people compare it with the PS2 the weakest system last gen. The believe it is impossible for the wii to have graphics equivalent to older 360 games, and it is just a gamecube 1.5 when it is more. |
And why do you expect developers to start pushing the Wii to its absolute limits just to keep it on par or sub-par to the ever increasingly more complex games on the PS3/360? And fazz didn't any such thing. He said with some optimization, the CoD games could run on the Wii but no one actually knows how much it might be downgraded. But the games running now aren't at CoD2, 3, levels so how do you expect devs to be able to port these games? We're out of the first generation Xbox 360 games.
Now, I believe (I could be wrong) that the Xbox 360's max polygon count is at 500 million and for the PS3, I see numbers from 300-400 million so your estimates seem to be screwed off.
Also, considering that the most famous Xbox 360 games not running in 720p are Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 developed by Bungie and Infinity Ward. You want to accuse them of being crappy programmers?
