Redesigns don't sell systems. It's the games. And the 3DS has another major price cut in 2017 for a price as low as $49.99¢, assuming this year's major price cut brings it down to $99.99¢, otherwise there will be 3 or so more price cut in the 3DS future, instead of just 2. The increase internal storage helped the PS3 & 360, but the PS4 & ONE started out with 500 GB storage which explains the PS4's success' which also explains the Xbox ONE's success, now that it's finally $400. What we learned is that any Home Console above $400 will fail. And any Handheld above $200 will also fail. The Nintendo Handhelds & Home Consoles are the only ones that can sell without the storage capacity, but e 3DS can use 64 GB HC SD Cards (which I got one myself), while the Vita can only use 32 GB Vita cards. The 3DS just needs games like those 2 exclusives from Mega Man creator and that one exclusive from Sonic creator, and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate & Bravely Second & so fort. The PS4 has to wait for Uncharted 4. Multiplatforms like GTA & COD have to be shared with ONE (now $400) and PC and Wii U. Destiny is the only game in 2014 left to give it another boost for a moment. The 3DS in Q4 has more new games to offer, and so does the Wii U, like Bayonetta 1 & 2 and Super Smash Bros. Console and Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon and so fort. Long story short, games have always shown that they are what sell systems, upon release most or all the time. Games have always turned the tide, like what release during the end of the PS3's lifespan. It will always be the games that move Home Consoles & Handhelds. For 2014 destiny is the only other game for the PS4. The 3DS has a great lineup for 2014 & 2015 & 2016. The PS4 has a great lineup for 2015 if I remember correctly. I can't dodge 2016 for the PS4, because I'm assuming a lot of unannounce titles. I think some of the best sells for PS4 & Xbox ONE will be Q4 2015, but I see them doing only decently in Q4 2014. Price cuts are only done when a system has started having poor sales for sure anyways. So there's always a several month bad time with any video game system, because of this system the 3 companies use for when to implore any price cuts. |
PS4 has plenty of games coming, and will most likely have more games then the 3DS LTD.
The 3DS will probably only have 1 more price cut. The 360 is almost 9 years old and is still sold $150-$250. So the 3DS will probably not be sold for under $99.
Redesigns really improved 3DS sales and also PS3, PS2, PS1 etc. DS as well. If the Redesign is done well it will push systems, unlike PSP GO.
