Due to me currently being stuck with an old laptop my Wii U (And 3ds) is my only means of playing games this year and possibly the next. Pre Wii U I was a PC and handheld gamer.

I would say I'm getting more and more tired of what many third parties seem to be offering these days. I think it's because my current tastes are leaning away from current 3rd party trends. I don't like linear fps, not because they're linear, but because the actions often all feels the same. I find big open world games are often easy to get hyped for but normally end up disappointing. Too many Mmo's about 7 - 8 years ago has left me cynical of any game that involve grinding levels in big open worlds. I'm not that fussed about GTA as the series hasn't really progressed since gta 3 so I didn't really miss that (Last one I played properly was san andreas, though I played a little bit of gta 4). That said, I would probably have got GTAV if it had come out on Wii U last year during all the hype.

The first third party game I was really hyped for, that the Wii U didn't get, was Thief, but reviews were negative overall so perhaps I wasn't missing much (I bet I would have still gotten some fun from it). Same goes for Strider, which is the kind of game you'd expect to do very well on a Wii U so it's a shame they skipped it.
I've played the 3 Batman Arkham games and although they were all ok, to my mind they were heavily overrated, especially city. So I'm not that hyped for yet another. I've been enjoying the assassins creed games so I'll miss them. I'll really miss the Deus Ex games. The original is probably my second favourite game of all time after Mario 64. Alien isolation looks good, but I'll get fatal frame 5 which'll make me just as happy (Or scared).

I'm pretty happy with quality of Nintendo's first party games at the moment. Though I have to wait for the quantity to catch up to the quality.

I like indie games and there seems to be a good number coming out for the eshop, so I'm happy there. Occasionally I hear of an interesting indie game that's exclusive to an other console but that cuts both ways with all console companies.

I do want big budget third party games. I'm hyped for Bayonetta 1 & 2 and I have a good number of third party games on my Wii U already but we all know this is where the Wii U is weak going into the future and there will be things I'll miss.
