The reason why he is not the best player in the world, skillful sure but I'd like to see him defend, I mean properly, don't think I ever have.

For me he doesn't really need to defend but he should at least give pressure when there is an opponent 3 meters away from him.. He's like walking back in a pace my grandmother does..
