I agree. Maybe they should solve this issue like they did in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The longer Link is in the sign the darker his tan will be. If you want to have a black Link then you'll just have to take him to Hyrule Beach to soak up the rays.
I can't help you with the female part of it, though. Maybe Yuga can teach him a thing or two.
