Sony have been very very smart in keeping their powder dry, but also in which products they have aligned themselves with.

Neither Sony or MS have the killer blow for xmas on their 1st party titles... so it's really all about the 3rd party games. 1st we know that everyone knows that the PS4 is more powerful than the XBO. That means the last 6 months all we keep hearing is how PS4 has better frame rate and resolution (even if some/most don't care).

2nd, Sony have aligned themselves very well to the big games of this year... Destiny will be massive, Battlefield - though its battlefield is a new cops vs robbers game, Farcry 4 co-op... again a massive difference in what the player is getting. We've had early access for destiny and battlefield.

While MS looks like they went with AC unity, which isn't a bad choice but I would suspect most who love AC would have moved to AC last year.

So couple in the fact of the early beta access, the special co-op feature in far cry, the exclusive white console with destiny I think they have put themselves in a strong position.

Now I know people will say but these games are on XYZ platforms, but at some point people move across and some will upgrade because of said games. If you take that into account with extra performance you can see why PS4 is killing it. MS really needed something big at E3, they didn't have it, and they showed how light their 2015 schedule is looking in the mean time.

Sony were smart, now they are on target to take 2014 without too much fight (except for the Halo collection being a slight blip to them), and 2015 is looking massively strong with Uncharted, Bloodbourne and the Order to name just 3.
