So...? 8th gen tech continues to be 8th gen tech, despite what may further exist. Super Mario Bros from 1985 is a NES exclusive. Would you say it has 8th gen graphics just because there is no high end PC running it? I mean, it's so obvious. Technology is what it is. You're going around in circles talking about art, fun and other things that are not tech. Here: "Technology (from Greek τέχνη, techne, "art, skill, cunning of hand"; and -λογία, -logia[1]) is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, and methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a pre-existing solution to a problem, achieve a goal, handle an applied input/output relation or perform a specific function. It can also refer to the collection of such tools, including machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures. Technologies significantly affect human as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their natural environments. The term can either be applied generally or to specific areas: examples include construction technology, medical technology, and information technology." |
Uh, my point was obviously that they don't trust their own hardware enough to show games running on their actual console. Instead they're tricking their own customers. I have no doubt that a game shown off by Naughty Dog at E3 will end up looking like the end product (if not better), but I'm not so sure about other game studios and third parties... This and the habit to show off CGI cutscenes annoy me to no end.
