Since when are sony fans called the sony defense force? Also soriku I thought you were more mature than that.

I think the lumping together typically occurs because Sony fans have even more of a tendency to be dillusional than other fans.  The idea that the PS3 will some day show its true power and the true power of the cell ones developers figure out how to "unlock" it.  It's a silly idea -- the processor is well documented, well understood, and designed.  There aren't any secrets.  Just a processor with SPEs that apply to some but not all algorithms used in rendering engines.

When Sony announced implementing a known software-scaling technique for their SDK, a lot of people said, "horizontal scaling unlocked in the PS3!  The rest of the scaler to be unlocked soon!  Proof it has a scaler."  They didn't care that it was the lowest quality possible scaling, a kind of scaling that can be done quickly in software, and doesn't suggest anything about a hardware scaler at all.  You couldn't reason with them about it.

Bod: I think you're making a good call.  Let's let the dust settle.  There's no reason to rush judgement here.
