First. Wii ALMOST stopped shipments, it barely sells since 2014 started.

Second. If PS3 lasts 3-4 more years until 2017-2018 that would be 11-12 years since 2006, the same as PS2 (2000-2012).

Third. I never said this will mean "PS3 won the generation", just the fact that it will overtake Wii. PS2 sold around 50m after PS3 launched. PS3 doesn't need to sell at the same rate to reach 100-105 million.

But if you want to know my opinion....If console A still sells after console B disappeared, it's a problem for console B. If console A ends selling more, that's a fact. You can consider whatever you want then. To me, the one who sold most lifetime, wins the "sales war" argument. To me, PS3 won the "games war" argument anyway years ago.....

I agree with the bolded especially in context of this (http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2011/04/the_console_war_erupts_analyst_says_playstation_3_has_surpassed_xbox_360_in_active_install_base ), which is further reinforced by this ( http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/it-news-digest/verdict-all-116-million-units-of-xbox-360-faulty/ ). Sales and shipment numbers mean nothing if a large number of consoles break after their warranties expired and if the userbase is significantly lower than the sales numbers. Flame shield activate!
