If that's the case, then what about CoD games?

You're saying the scope of cod is comparable to this? lol

CoD has a very barebones single player campaign, a very simple "leveling" system, a limited selection of maps, several modes, probably a few dozen "weapon" selections, and basically you either shoot, throw a grenade, or knife someone.  The game may be more complex on the outside, but when it comes down to actually playing the game it's rather simplistic.  Splatoon is of a different genre, where getting "kills" isn't the focus.  We already know there are different weapons (how many is unknown), the number of maps is also unknown but we know there will be more, there is likely to be other modes, and there are quite a few other elements to the game if you watched the game being played.  The scope of what we know may be less than CoD, but it is comparable.
