You mean honest?  Yes.

Is well known cartoony Zeldas are not the best ones or the most popular.

To be honest, I don't think they had much of a choice once they chose to go open-world due to WiiU specs.

(And please, usual suspects, don't jump to this post - fact is that even Witcher 3 is rumoured at 720p on XOne, so building realistic looking open-world is not quite as easy as making it cartoony.)

Personally, I don't have a problem with the style, I think it looks really good, I just hope Aonuma can restrain his obsession for puzzles and actually make the game more about exploring.
