Cloud technology is little more than a few servers and a smooth gateway. I could create an entire cloud environment in less than 2 weeks, faster if I had money to burn, which Nintendo has.

This is where you are wrong.  The entire point of my thread is pointing out that this kind of infrasructure is not an easy thing to throw up overnight.

As for online: I'm prety sure Modern Warfare was 8 vs 8, which was on the Wii, whcih means it supported 16 simultaneous players online.

Nope it was 10 players with incredible lag.

In essence, all 3 companies are in trouble. We've hit a glass wall with HD resolutions. Networks are getting bogged down with video and audio streaming, so until the infrastructure gets better, the networks can't improve.

Good thing Sony and Microsoft both own entire cloud companies then.  Also I don't know what this "Bogged down" thing is.  I haven't any issues whatsoever...

It almost benefits Sony and MS to offer services like Steam instead of creating new hardware in the future, whereas Nintendo is a hardware company, and will always have a physical system, as they have been heard saying.

Again this is my point.  Eventually the only physical consoles left will be PC's that are too powerful to stream, and Nintendo stuck in the Dark Ages while MS/Sony cash in on their cloud tech.

Responses in bold.

1 - Re Cloud tech, as an IT engineer with 14 years experience, it's not overly complex, as long as there's enough money to invest in it.

2 - Confuses me with regards to response #3. If you're not getting bogged down on your network, then you wouldn't be experiencing lag with MW on the Wii. My N network was more than enough for reasonably smooth online gaming. Granted the Wii only had a G receiver in it (which infuriated me that they would skimp there).

3 - I kinda mushed two ideas together and ended up making little sense. My main point is that resolutions are maxed out for a good while yet. No one is making the jump to 2k or 4k TVs anytime soon. I've read a lot of posts about how minor the jump in graphics was to the new next gen systems (Xb1, PS4) compared to PS2 to PS3 and XB to XB360. Eventually, the increase in graphics won't be worth the pricetag.

4 - I don't know so much about "cashing in" on cloud tech, unless its subscription based. Steam already has the lion's share, and they don't charge for it.  Nintendo will always be able to rely on their first party titles. People still love Mario Kart and Zelda, that's why people buy Nintendo systems. First party games. Sure, some people have only 1 console, and then they buy 3rd party games too, but the allure is with the 1st party games.
