The game is a "hallway," but that's just a symptom of a much bigger problem, which is that the game is almost completely devoid of depth.
I haven't played FFX, but I can't imagine it could be as simplistic and shallow as FFXIII. There are almost no meaningful choices to be made for pretty much the entire game. It's almost boring...
