| DevilRising said: Here's the thing. NO self-respecting Smash fan is anticipating the 3DS version over the Wii U one. The only people who are planning to get the 3DS version but NOT the Wii U version, are people who are too cheap/broke to buy a Wii U for the real version of the game. Because make no mistake about it, the Wii U version is the real version. It's a nice little "hey let's make some more money" idea by Nintendo to have a 3DS version, but I still feel, and will continue to maintain, that it was an absolute waste of time and resources on their part. For one thing, most people who want the 3DS version, also want the Wii U version, and the only reason they want the 3DS version at all, is because they like the idea of "Smash on the go". Which is fine and dandy. But let's face facts. The 3DS version, despite jargon and rhetoric, is going to have less content, the controls are not going to be as good, the game won't PLAY as good with that control option and the tiny screen, and let's face it, the graphics are terrible. Yes, I said that. They literally look worse than Brawl's graphics (which still look fine), in fact they are more on par with Melee's graphics. For another thing, while I don't think that the 3DS version will have TOO drastic an impact on the Wii U version's sales, the fact of the matter is, you have to be outright ignorant not to realize that it is still going to undermine/sabotage the Wii U version at least to some degree. Which is why I think having the 3DS version at all was a stupid move on Nintendo's part. The game being Wii U exclusive (and having an actual title, not just the generic "for Wii U"), would have given the game a fully realized hype machine. People would have absolutely HAD to buy a Wii U if they wanted a new Smash Bros. game. Now, this situation only allows for the lazy and cheap among us to just buy a cheaper 3DS, or get the 3DS game if they already had the system. Like I said though, NO self-respecting Smash fan DOESN'T want the Wii U version, for a plethora of reasons: graphics, content, control options, undoubtedly better gameplay, cooler stages, playing the game on a BIG screen TV as it's supposed to be, etc. etc. etc. So no. I think that while Nintendo was foolish for even bothering to NOT make it a Wii U only game, I still think there is strong reason to believe the Wii U version should sell just fine. |
im not cheap or broke and im not getting the Wii U version. Becasue its dumb(imho) to pay 300+ for a system just to play one game. NOw later down the line if the WIi U ends up getting 3 or more games i really want to play then ill get it, but it wont be this year. Ill stick to my non "real" version thank you. Fighting games on portables work as Darkstalkers, Street Fighter, Tekken, hell all of them have proven. We'll be fine. Not to mention I dont have to wait till winter to play it.
All in all i just want decent Smash to play and lets be real. Brawl wasnt even that good to being with so its not like im expecting much even from the Wii U version. Its not that i dont want it, i dont need it. ANd try not to speak for everyone mmmkay?
