Because both x1 and wii u is underperforming.  Im pretty sure that the ps4 sales dont make up for the decreased sales of xbox and nintendo products..  In terms of total sales it does seem like we are seeing a small shrink compared to last gen.  No evidence to back this up but them again i havent heard anyone analyzing the overall sales of current vs last gen

X1 problem is price cut and Wii u the lack of 3rd party support it dosn't have relation with smartphones
