The games aren't linked to the console anymore. At least not for the WiiU. They're linked to the account which is linked to the console. If you decide to upgrade to a new console or it breaks or is stolen, you can give Nintendo a call and they'll transfer the account over. I bit of a pain yes, but as long as you're not trying to switch at a busy time like the holidays or a big game launch, it shouldn't take too long.
The PS system is good, but it's just so easy to steal games. I really think that's Nintendo main concern with letting people attach multiple consoles to a single account. Unless Sony's updated it lately to stop that. We haven't done it in a while.
Why did you need 2 DSs? It seems like portables would have less reasons to need 2. They're portable.. It goes everywhere with you.

Well it's good to know games can be transferred over to other consoles. Although having to call Nintendo to do it just shows how antiquated their system still is.
As for multiple portable consoles, it's useful to have multiple in families. Also now that Nintendo's handhelds are no longer region free there is even more reason to have multiple

Ok, yeah. Being able to speak another language and wanting to play region specific games is good reason. But when you buy a retail game for the family, you either have to share with the family or buy multiple copies. Why should digital be any different?
