CD Projekt Announces DRM-Free Steam Competitor GOG Galaxy
CD Projekt has announced GOG Galaxy, a DRM-free online gaming platform that will allow players to access their games without needing to connect to the internet.
Conventional features such as automatic game updates and friends lists are present, but what sets GOG Galaxy apart from its competitors is that being online is "completely optional," according to the trailer. "It is up to the player to decide which features they want to use."
Interestingly, GOG Galaxy will also include a cross-play feature, allowing gamers to play with friends who have purchased games through other online services, such as Steam.
The new platform was announced at CD Projekt's livestreamed press conference, at which many new details about its forthcoming RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt became available. "More news" about GOG Galaxy will come later in the year.

The main thing that's pissed me off about the Steam client is the DRM that's prohibitive to offline play of my games and the offline mode is a joke when you look at what you have to do in order to use it. So long Steam, and fuck you for not realizing my internet sucks or that unexpected server crashes that prevent me from playing any of the 84 games in my library in offline mode if they haven't been fully updated.
Is anyone else making the switch? Has this been posted already and I'm just blind?
