I was looking at it from an industry wide perspective. But if you want a company view. Playstation will never be anywhere near as big as it was (much like its parent company), Ninty will never be as big as it was. Xbox? not sure. It hasnt really shrunk much yet. |
Depends how you define the industry i suppose. As far as dedicated platforms go, sure, things are a lot worse than they used to be. Gaming in general though (home consoles, handhelds, mobile and PC) is looking pretty good.
I don't think anything is going to be as big PlayStation used to be, as least as far as single home platforms go. The PS4 at least has the potential to take 2nd place behind the PS2, which i imagine Sony are pleased with (especially since the PS4 isn't the money sink the PS3 turned out to be). Should also be interesting to see what happens with PSNow.
Fully agree on Nintendo. They hit the golden road with the DS/Wii combo, which is incredibly unlikely to happen again.
Xbox will be fun to watch. The X1's current situation isn't pretty at all, but there is plenty of time for MS to turn things around.
