I agree, though this is from the perspective of a FIFA player. Those who claim each game is just a roster update are basically plain wrong. EA spend a lot of money to improve the games from year to year and if you play a lot of these games, it is very noticable!
I admittedly only have 1 Madden game and they are probably doing more with FIFA given that they have (or used to) competition with PES, but I know EA don't employ hundreds of developers to sit around doing nothing. They know they have to keep improving if they want to keep selling copies
And if there is 1 company that knows how to get every cent out of something, it's the NFL
