Pretty much all the criticisms I've heard of the game sound nitpicky. It doesn't sound as painstakingly refined as Brawl, SMG or MP3 were, but I have no doubt that it will be a very worthy purchase, even if online turns out to be a little flaky (which I'm guessing it will).
Although Griffin's off on how much Kart has actually changed, he's right that it doesn't have much in the way of competition. There are lots of racing games on Wii, but they're pretty weak on quality. Excite Truck is the closest competition MK will have.
