| hated_individual said: @Kresnik Why is it hard to believe for Capcom to make another Resident Evil exclusive since Revelations is profitable and the user base is now larger thus greater sales potential. Cost of making a high end game on 3DS equals ball park of PlayStation 2 and Gamecube so Capcom only needed 200-300K units sold at 60$ to cover the costs and rest is profot. With developnent costs covered capcom gained 4-6+ million $ of pure profit.... MT FW engine is now fully optimized and developed on 3DS with several games from Capcom that uses that engine... |
"Going by the 3DS market at the time we released the game, it was definitely a success and we're certainly hoping we can repeat that success with the home console version.
Given the large development costs we had on the 3DS version, we would have liked to have even a little more sales than we did in the end. But that doesn't mean we saw it as a failure by any means."
You don't keep putting out games that are "not a failure". It's pretty neutral PR to be honest, saying that sales weren't good enough without flat out saying they were bad.
But regardless, it clearly didn't perform as they expected and they put it on consoles to get some extra money out of it. Therefore I can see no reason for them going 3DS exclusive again. They might put a game on 3DS as part of a multi-plat development - that much I could understand - but not another exclusive that invariably they'd have to port to home consoles again later. Might as well just put it on all consoles from the start.
If it's a port of Code Veronica, that's a different story. Ports cost peanuts and they game is already on PS3/360.
