This does have me a little worried about Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, although I readily admit that my worries may be unfounded. I don't want the game to "flop" in comparison to its predecessors and thus be written off as a franchise, or at least be relegated in terms of priority. When it comes to release, how many people will be owners of new-generation hardware, or at least be well into the process of saving for it and thus less likely to make last-generation purchases? |
They have certainly made the wrong bet with the presequel and I'm pretty sure that it will dissapoint commercially. But I think the publisher will know the reason why and they won't write it off as a franchise, I mean BL2 shipped like +8 million copies, right?
But I definitely think it's not a good idea. A bit similar to Batman AO. A prequel that not really everyone wanted, not made by the original developers which might mean lower quality or just trying to do more of the same not to "break" a franchise that isn't yours. It won't sell great and will make the franchise look fatigued. It's a risky move.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!
