No. 5-6 year lifespan? Maybe. PS3 will have 10+. I think PS4 will end up with 12+. The lifespans are increasing as 'progress' per generation slows. However, Wii U is still essentially PS3/X360 level tech. This gen games are significantly inferior on the Wii U. This cannot continue for 10 years.
At some point Nintendo, given how short their gens are, needs to bite the bullet and release 'mid' stream and do a Wii U 2 in the middle of the gen. They can catch up in tech, cheaply, and potentially get 3rd party games on par with the competition for the 2nd half of the gen.
