The whole argument about RE5 making it to the Wii is not based on the hardware being as powerful as the HD consoles, but rather that the game looks like it's basically RE4 in HD, and there's probably not going to be anything that wouldn't run if the eye candy was cut down a bit.

Would it be much harder than porting between the HD consoles? Definitely. Much harder than porting RE4 to the PS2.

Would it still be a lot cheaper than making a game from scratch? Of course. They could re-use all the voice acting and other audio, (the hopefully excellent) level design, and a percentage of the textures and other crap that is probably smaller than they'd want, but still way more than the zero some people are suggesting.

Will they do it? Probably not, but saying it's impossible is just plain stupid. This is Capcom we're talking about, and they have a history of turning their exclusives into multiplats, not to mention being one of the last third parties to give serious support to the Gamecube.

As usual, Parokki is a voice of reason. I think a port is almost guaranteed, although it might come much later.
