The hybrid product is always a short lived product and the companies that release them know this. Remember those huge, CRT hdtv's of the early 2000's? Remember EDTV?
When change happens, companies know there is a small niche that drag their feet so they release products for those people. Right now, tablets work for 95% of the population but that other 5% are vocal and need their physical keyboard's and flash etc. That's what the Surface is for and why it exists. MS know's we're transitioning and they also know that a product like this will be obsolete in a few years when regular tablets take over but they don't care because they'll make a little bit of money along the way.
People need to accept that physical keyboards and traditional computers are dying and adapt. The 1-10 year old demograph can already type like pros using an iPad because that's what they've grown up with. Us older users can do the same if we all just stopped bitching for 10 minutes and make the leap.
