Idea for how Nintendo could revive some IP's

There are lots of different series which Nintendo has made over its many years in the business. Although a lot have stayed around, some others have been abruptly pushed aside to the realm of forgotten games. It is understandable why series like F-Zero, Metroid, and Star Fox have been ultimately ignored over the past decade, (starting with F-Zero since 2003) since their sales have been slow. But a way to revive them and make the wide audience interested again would be to release classic ones for free. Games like Super Metroid, Star Fox 64, and F-Zero X are some of the best titles in the series, and releasing them for free, in the long run, could get some huge sales in future installments. If everyone who owns a Wii U now (6.2m) were to download Star Fox 64 for free and they released a new one come next year where the install base has grown, it could easily clear 2 million, probably push more around 4-5 million worldwide. And console sales, slowly but surely, would improve and get greater. Another thing they could do is release games like "Star Fox 2" on the Virtual Console for the regular price. A lot of fans would be happy with that to help pass time until an actual new one was released. I know I focused on Star Fox the most, but this could help all the series. I just would really like to see a new Star Fox since the last good one I played was for GameCube, about 10 years ago.
