We are seeing a trend in hardware that is more energy-efficient with respect to processor power with more and more demand for mobile devices. Because Nintendo is obsessed with making efficient consoles, it would be an advantage that technology is developing in the direction of making powerful, efficient, portable computing devices and Nintendo's next console will likely be capable of similar graphical fidelity to its competitors for this reason, but also for the law of diminishing returns. I'd expect something similar to a high-end PC today but more tablet oriented in terms of architecture: 8-12 gb of GDDR5 ram, minimum 2.5 GHZ (base frequency) quad-core with a more modern architecture than what we see today, an energy-efficient GPU modeled after a high-end Volcanic Islands or Pirates Islands Series (likely the latter considering Pirate Islands rumored efficiency.) Overall, similar to the Wii U/Wii generations, but the gap with the competitors will be less.
