It's the best we have, and the basis for most our speculation on this site.

There may be some variances here and there, but the total Nintendo games sold is almost twice the total number of Sony games sold.

I'm not sure you can argue against something like a 600m units win.

Very inaccurate. The fact remains that, besides the numbers themselves not being correct, VGChartz doesn't have data for all games and it doesn't have digital data.
