-Optional side-quest with worthy rewards (upgrades, heart pieces, optional items, you get the idea, not rupees you'll likely never use), like in Majora's Mask
-An interesting world to learn about with actual characters, like in Majora's Mask
-The capability to learn new moves, like in Twilight Princess
-Being free to progress through the game as the player prefers, like in a Link Between Worlds
-An overworld that feels like it's worth exploring, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword all had irritatingly big and empty overworlds with nothing interesting to do in them or to find out (with WW and SS being the worst of the bunch), I want hidden stuff that's fun to discover, you know, like in the 2D games
-A bigger role for magic and whatnot, this aspect in particular was severely underplayed in most of the series and, when there's spells, they are either very situational our outright useless, I want cooler stuff that does feel like it can help me through my adventures, with the exception of aLttP and LBW with the medallions/staffs, no game in the series has done this remotely decently yet
-Optional dungeons would be cool too, kinda like how the cave of trials is a completely optional challenge to do in TP, but you know, with actual variety of tasks and interesting structure
that's all what comes to mind at the moment
