Okay... maybe. I don't understand how link's body grows but not his mind. I can understand that he has no memories of the 7 years locked up in the hidden realm, but that doesn't mean he's a child in his mind. Honestly, I understand that the industry is way too focused on protagonists looking badass, but I honestly don't think that's an issue with all adult characters, and honestly I disagree that because link was made to look badass in TP, that makes the same design intent follow for SS. Yes, he may be a blend of TP and WW, but that may just be a natural evolution to a previous design, and an intelligent reuse of software assets (e.g. they don't have to redesign everything, they can reuse much of the framework of TP to make SS). I don't think you're right on that. |
...Yes. Yes it absolutely does. If you where seven and you went to sleep as a seven year old and woke up ten years later, you're not gonna suddenly start acting like a seventeen year old.
It doesn't matter if it wasn't the design intent for Skyward Sword. The influences of the previous design still resonate. That's like if Aonuma made a new Zelda game, and it was the Wind Waker model of Link, but with realistic textures in the style of the Zelda tech demo. No matter how much Aonuma altered the aesthetic of Links design, he's always gonna keep the doofy runt with a big head-design from WW, no matter how much darker the story of that game turns out. I absolutely am right on that.
