You keep repeating yourself and haven't answered the question - if those titles appeal to a varied audience, then why do the consoles sell so poorly?

NIntendo franchises aren't just on consoles though; Wii U and GCN don't show they're not popular, because at the same time 3DS and GBA sold well. Which answers your second question too; since people can get their Nintendo fix on portables, they go there to play Mario and such whenever Nintendo releases unattractive console hardware.

So you are then saying that the experience on a handheld is the same as a livingroom console? ........
