Well, my facetious comment is sort of correct in a sick way. Votes are linked to IP addresses, not accounts, so even unregistered visitors with dynamic IPs can skew results. But I sort of see what you mean, assuuming that you also disagree with the blatant misuse of the term "objectivity" to add undeserved weight to popular opinion, which is, by its very nature, inescapably subjective. |
There will still likely be the "skew" from members, even if a subset of the votes are from non-members. So the measurement wouldn't be very accurate of "critical acclaiml."
I agree though, there is no objective measurement of "critical acclaim" and that was the point I was trying to passively get across in my comment. His method (whatever it might be) is no better than just looking at the posts of forum members to gather which Zelda is better.
It is why this elitism of what the best Zelda game is, and who has the support (either by sales, or some aggregate opinion) behind their game, is silly.
The same is true for the logic of using sales to represent a better game. Among these forums, I doubt anybody would say Phantom Hourglass is a better game than Wind Waker, but it sold more upon their respective original releases.
