The Q&A comments from Nintendo if you actually read it never actually said anything about a single game for NFC, in fact the way they showed it was the toys working with multiple games. The Mario figurine shown by Nintendo shows it interacting with three different games for example. 

So it's actually the people who just assumed Nintendo was making 1 singular Skylanders style hub game that are basically just basing that off ... nothing. Also since when does Nintendo ever just do something because that's what some other third party was doing. I think that was actually the false assumption. 

I never said or thought they would do a skylander hub world. Imo i dont think nintendo would do that, they usually come up with new innovative things. I was thinking more of a Kingdom Hearts type of game (just my prediction).

That said, your point makes sense but we still got Miyomoto's New IP. Thats where everybody is getting it from, this was from before that Q&A
