To add to what Smeags said, both players will be able to pick any character of their choosing for round 1. The winner must keep his character for round 2, the loser can change. If a third round is necessary, once again the winner must keep his character and the loser can change.
As for stages, there's no way to know which are good and bad right now but that'll be updated as we go. We won't limit stages to the multiple Final Destinations like the For Glory mode though.
