Hey come to think of it, the Hero's Shade had several artifacts from Majora's Mask, so there's your MM remnant! Also, I just noticed the phrase "a self contained plot that uses elements light from past games to keep cronalogy" in your OP. That's a better way of saying it. It explores another story, contains elements from other games to establish chronology, and makes just a little bit more sense of things without constraining them. I just feel like in particular, the story that needs to be told is the end of the Hero of Time. It could establish the Links as individuals seperate from the Hero's spirit that they house, hence why the Hero of Time has a shade in TP, while the real Hero's Spirit is housed in TP Link at the time. It would also explain why Link needs to "awaken the spirit of the Hero" within himself in each incarnation. Each Link is just a normal guy, imbued with godlike courage from the unbreakable spirit of the hero within him, if he can just awaken the hero within. |
There is no confirmed blood relation. That's just speculation. It's just the wording. I'm sure he was just referring to the idea that TP Link is the new reincarnation of the Hero, just like he was. I seriously think that link has no direct relation to the hero of time.
I think that it would be cool if they surprised us with why the hero has a shade. Maybe the way he dies makes his spirit restless, and the only reason he can communicate with TP Link is because they share a bond through the triforce of courage or comething. He doesn't have to be a stalfos. That would be too disappointingly predictable. If there's anything MM wasn't, it's predictable.
And for the last point, while I always thought that each link was first a normal person, I always worked it out that the reason each link became a hero was because of their natural courage. Like, there's nothing godlike about them. You just play as the most couragous young lad of each era, and that natural courage itself was the material triforce. Like, the triforce doesn't give link special power. It's because of Links own natural born courage that the Triforce has it's power. Link gives the triforce it's power, not the other way around. The triforce is just a measure of human virtues; Power-Wisdom-Courage. The triforce is forged every era in the soul of the one person in the land with the most courage, the most power, and the deepest wisdom. Zelda inherites her wisdom through lineage, evil takes it's power by force, and the next hero is born with the courage by luck. It's all random. That's why it's so special. Anyone could have been that courageous. Anyone can have that triforce, but only Link had the balls to earn it.
