When they talked about announcing a game closer to release, I'm sure they were talking about Zelda. Especially since Aonuma said that he wanted the next Zelda to have less developement time, as Skyward Sword took too long. 3 years was his sweet spot.

Yep. They waited too long for Skyward Sword and they should not repeat the same mistakes.

I have a feeling they won't. SM3DW was a huge success, and that was only revealed five months before release. If SM3DW can do that, so can LoZ. People mistake pessimism for realism. They don't want to be disappointed, so they ignore obvious signs. I'm not saying it will definitely come out this year, but there's definitely no overwhelming evidence against it like people are suggesting here.

Zelda Wii U was first talked about in January of 2013. Then, they said that Zelda for Wii U had been in developement for a while, but was still a ways off. If Zelda Wii U comes out in November 2013, that's nearly two years since they said that. And since they probably started Zelda Wii U towards the end of 2011 after Skyward Sword, it would have been in developement for over a year by that point.

And it's stupid that people bring up that the Zelda team has been working on multiple projects as a valid argument. WWHD was a collab effort with Hexadrive. OoT3D worked with Grezzo. Hyrule Warriors is working with Team Ninja and Omega Force. A Link Between Worlds had help from Monolithe. And guess what? The team working on Zelda Wii U, which has the biggest developement team in Nintendo historia, is probably getting help from outside developers as well.

I'm expecting Monolith Soft to be helping with the game, like Skyward Sword.
