I like to think of Xenoblade as a test run or template for future home console RPGs developed by Monolith. X is in a much better position to be a "Final Fantasy killer" or would be if Wii U was even 1/4 as successful as Wii. 

Yeah, that's how I saw it too. It was testing the waters for them, I don't think they even expected the love it got. Now they're gonna build on it to make their own unique type of game in the JRPG genre.
