My only exposure to Godzilla prior to this was the 98 film with Broderick. I went in with the expecation that Ithe movie would be a CGI fest like the abhorrent transformers movies. I was so wrong.

I loved the movie. It had serious flaws, but Godzilla himself was awesome. There was no shaky cam, and everything just looked better than most CGI spectacles these days. The film teased you with bits of the big guy, but when he finally roars mightily, it carries a lot of weight. I felt chills.

I'm glad they choose to: A: not overuse Godzilla
B: make the action easy to follow, and awesome.

Overall, I was super super impressed. The Godzilla "lore" is on display in this movie. And its actually super interesting. Godzilla is not just some crazy monster, rather an apex predator. He's not a hero, but he's not some mindless evil.

This movie made me a Godzilla fan. I eagarly await the sequel.
